The Stieglitz Circle

The Stieglitz Circle brings together people who are interested in the art of photography and in supporting the museum’s photography program. Through an annual program of events, Stieglitz Circle members enjoy exclusive opportunities to meet artists, scholars, and art dealers. They also have access to the museum’s photography curators for advice on market trends and how to build a fine art photography collection.

Led by the museum’s photography curators, John Rohrbach and Jessica May, Stieglitz Circle members enjoy special previews of new acquisitions. The group applies most of its annual membership fees to the purchase of works for the museum.

Beyond providing support for acquisitions, Stieglitz Circle members come together periodically to discuss trends in the photography marketplace, review prints, visit galleries and photography fairs, and share meals with artists and historians. In the process, group members exchange ideas about photographs and gain advice from museum staff on building and preserving their own collections of photographs.
