Help AP Students Succeed

Schedule now to bring your Advanced Placement students on an interactive, Gallery Teacher-led tour of the Carter. Students concentrate on the world of American art as they discover how each artwork is a product of its historical and cultural contexts. Tours may be accompanied by a writing activity in the galleries that will prepare students for the Document Based Questions on the AP exam. For more information, visit http://www.cartermuseum.org/visiting/tours/students.

The School Tour Program is generously funded by the Walton Family Foundation, Alcon, and the Texas Commission on the Arts.

Let the Carter Pay Your Field Trip Expenses

Thanks to a generous grant from the Texas Commission on the Arts, the Carter is able to provide financial assistance to teachers interested in bringing their students to the museum for a guided tour this spring. These funds are available to offset expenses associated with transporting students to and from the Carter. To learn more about this opportunity, please contact Bridget Thomas at 817.989.5036 or bridget [dot] thomas [at] cartermuseum [dot] org (bridget.thomas@cartermuseum.org).

Free Erwin E. Smith Videoconferences

Bring the museum into your classroom by scheduling a videoconference! In celebration of Fort Worth’s western heritage and the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo, the Erwin E. Smith: Cowboy Photographer videoconference will be offered throughout January and February free of charge. During this program, students evaluate the authenticity and reliability of photographic sources, while they learn about the lifestyle of cowboys during the early twentieth century as depicted through Smith’s photographs. This program can be adapted for all grade levels and may be scheduled at your request by contacting nancy [dot] strickland [at] cartermuseum [dot] org (nancy.strickland@cartermuseum.org). Make your request as early as possible to ensure availability! Your school must have an ISDN line and videoconferencing equipment to participate.
