On the upper surface of the base, at the edge, directly in front of the mother bear's right front paw: C M Russell c [circled] \ [skull] [Note: Not in Russell's hand. Skull is schematic, almost like a fox head. The "M" in the signature is smaller, nearly inside the "C."]
FOUNDRY MARK: On the vertical edge of the base, directly below the mother bear's left side: CALIF. ART BRONZE FNRY. L.A.
