Artful engagement: Ambassador Council at the Carter
Jan 24, 2025
Art museums are more than just buildings where art is displayed—they are living institutions that connect people, cultures, and ideas. However, behind the scenes, many of these museums rely on dedicated individuals who help promote their mission, foster relationships, and support strategic initiatives. One of the key groups making a significant impact on the Carter’s success is the Ambassador Council.
The Carter’s Ambassador Council are united by their love for art and commitment to community engagement. They collaborate closely with Museum staff to amplify the Carter’s mission. From outreach initiatives to supporting incoming acquisitions, they ensure the Museum remains a vibrant cultural hub.
One of their key contributions is helping the Carter tell compelling stories. By engaging with local communities and fostering dialogue, they help bring exhibitions and programs to life. Their insights often shape the way we present art, making it more accessible and relevant to visitors of all backgrounds. Their work has a tangible impact, from enhancing visitor experiences to creating inclusive spaces where everyone feels welcome. Whether it’s hosting special events or inspiring young art enthusiasts, their contributions resonate far beyond the Museum walls.
Craig Woodcook, Chief Legal Officer for Ben E. Keith Company who joined the Ambassador Council in 2022, said he “work(s) hard to promote the Carter and its support of our community through free access to American art. The Carter’s engagement with our diverse community of North Texas is second to none and helps tie our community together through the arts.”
The Ambassador Council at the Carter exemplifies how a love for art and community can create a lasting impact, both inside and outside the Museum. Their dedication ensures the Carter remains a place where art inspires, connects, and transforms lives.
You may not be an Ambassador Council member, but by sharing your passion, engaging in conversations, and connecting others to these valuable resources, you help foster a stronger, more informed, and more connected community. Your voice has the power to inspire and encourage others to explore, learn, and engage with the historic, cultural institutions around them.
