Description
Autograph letter signed. Thanks Dorr for the Valentine she sent Robbie. Says he speaks plainly and fluently and likes to talk on the phone. Reports receiving two letters from Mayo who gives no news except that he is all right. Says the men at the front get rested at intervals, but not the doctors. She knows he doesn’t get any rest. He has been gone for 18 months and 2 days and had a 5 day leave to rest when he went to Capri. Says Pa believes the war will be over by the first of April and she wants to believe that, but she has been disappointed too many times before. Says she’s sorry for Win just about to start out, but that she’s lucky that the war against Japan may not last much longer and by the time Billie is trained, he may not have to be gone so long. Says Win has had “plenty of upheavals” in her marriage, but they have real love. Says Bet never writes. Relates that Pa [Possibly her father-in- law?] is going to start working on the farm next week and is so enthusiastic because he thinks Mayo will be home soon. Asks her mother to send clothes for Robbie that are cool and comfortable in a size 3 for spring. Says there is nothing “here” and she can’t get to Dallas.
