l.c. [printed]: THIS VIEW IS ON FOURTEENTH STREET, \ Between Broadway and University Place, which latter street is where the Street-cars have halted. \ The Troops are seen coming out of Broadway and wheeling around into Fourteenth Street. Facing Broadway is Union Square, extending from University Place to Fourth Avenue, and from Four- \ teenth Street to Seventeenth Street, but not shown in this picture, because the corner building at left of picture shuts off our camera's gaze eastward. Fourteenth Street, of which this is a view, runs \ east and west in an air line. The largest building here seen is located on the corner of Broadway; the next largest, with the dome over it, is on the corner of Fourth Avenue. The Procession came \ up Broadway to Fourteenth Street, wheeled around that corner into Fourteenth Street, and so on westward two blocks to Fifth Avenue. The Staff of Gen. Daniel E. Sickles is in the foreground of this \ picture. The General, who lost a leg at Gettysburg, rides with General Butterfield, also noted for valor on the same field. \ 180
