    u.c. [typed on paper label]: Chief of the In-Ke Sa-Be \ or Black Shoulder (a buffalo) gens. \ of the Omaha. His gens kept the mys- \ terious or Sacred peace pipes. Ga-hi-ge, Chief, or Pe-dhan-ba, Seven \ was one of the best men of his people. \ He labored for the welfare of his tr \ tribe, and though one of the Chief's Party \ for years he favored a Compromise and was \ elected one of the new Chief's by the \ popular voice. He died a few years ago. \ The hand on his headress refers to an \ exploit in war.
