    c. printed: The Grand Canon. \ The Arkansas River in forcing its way out from \ its mountain birth place has cut an immense chasm \ through the solid granites which once confined it \ in a great lake. The grandure of the great walls \ of the canon culminates in the "Royal Gorge" \ which is about five miles above the mouth. A \ rail-road, the Leadville extension of the D. & R. \ G. R. R. now extends through its entire length. \ It was during the construction of this road by the \ A. T. & S. F. R. R., that the great contest for its \ possessions arose, called the "Colorado rail-road war" \ W.H. Jackson, Photo. 413 Larimer St. Denver. [upside down]:
