    u.l. printed: The Indian Gardens on Bright Angel Trail are \ 2990 feet below the rim and about half way from \ the rim to the river. Years ago this patch was \ cultivated by a band of Havasupai Indians, hence \ the name given them. Watermelons and garden \ truck still are raised in abundance. The elevation \ of the Gardens is 3876 feet.
