u.l. to u.r. in ink: Ranch house at 1/2 ranch just south of the Black \ Forest, n. of Colo Springs. My uncle Bearnie was \ here and as far as I know my father, Francis Gilpin, \ joined him in 1882. The west line of this ranch \ is directly east of the present Air Force Academy \ Laura Gilpin 1/18/78
