Event Description
Join us every second Thursday to connect with art through cocktails, conversations, and creativity. This month, sip on a Venetian-inspired cocktail, take a masterclass in Italian food and wine, and learn about Americans in Italy in the exhibition Sargent, Whistler, and Venetian Glass: American Artists and the Magic of Murano.
Schedule
5–8 p.m.
Enjoy drinks on our Plaza along with Italian and international pop music played by DJ Wild in the Streets.
Carter members get one complimentary drink! Lite bites are available for purchase at the Carter’s Food Cart.
Paint “en plein air” on our Porch, just like the artists in the exhibition enjoyed doing. Led by Carter Community Artist Lingchia Tsai. Supplies are limited to the first 200 people.
5–6 p.m.
Enjoy Prosecco, Prosciutto di Parma, and Parmigianino Reggiano with the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce of Texas. Jeremy Parzen, Ph.D. of Do Bianchi blog, will lead a lively tasting of authentic Italian products as part of IACC’s Extraordinary Italian Taste series. Food and drinks are limited and will be first-come, first-served.
6–7:30 p.m.
Exhibition Talk: Alex Mann, Director of Curatorial Affairs and Chief Curator at Telfair Museums, will talk with Carter curator Maggie Adler about how the Sargent, Whistler, and Venetian Glass exhibition came together. They’ll also share information about the artists’ time in Italy and how Venice inspired their artistic experimentation at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century. Following their conversation, both speakers will participate in a Q&A. Seating for the talk will be first-come, first-served.
American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation will be provided during the talk.
