Event Description
Join us from your home every Wednesday morning in July for weekly storytime in connection with an artwork in the Carter’s collection. After the story, we’ll walk you through a fun art project using art materials you already have at home.
This week we will focus on the theme “safety” by reading Barefoot: Escape on the Underground Railroad by Pamela Duncan Edwards in connection with The Caves created by Robert S. Duncanson. After the story, we’ll make paper versions of freedom quilts, which helped enslaved people travel safely along the Underground Railroad. You’ll need the following supplies:
- Blank pieces of white paper
- Pencil
- Ruler
- Something to color with (colored pencils, markers, crayons)
Free. Reservations are not required. Virtual Art Tales will take place on the Carter’s Facebook Live.
