February 10, 2025 The Amon Carter Museum of American Art’s Art Bridges Texas Cohort Organizes the Multi-Institutional Exhibition Home, Love, and Loss

Three Texas museums across the state host the exhibition in 2025–2026

Fort Worth, TX, February 10, 2025 – As the lead museum for the Art Bridges Texas Cohort, the Amon Carter Museum of American Art (the Carter) announced the debut of Home, Love, and Loss, an exhibition that explores the cycles of family life and the universal threads of human connection. With support from Art Bridges Foundation, the exhibition will open at the Art Museum of South Texas in Corpus Christi on February 14, 2025, and will remain on view until April 27, 2025, after which it will travel to the Amarillo Museum of Art and the Ellen Noël Art Museum (Odessa, TX).

Home, Love, and Loss marks the third in a series of exhibitions presented by the Carter’s Art Bridges Texas Cohort. Since its launch in 2022, the multi-institutional partnership—comprised of the Carter, the Art Museum of South Texas, the Amarillo Museum of Art, and the Ellen Noël Art Museum—has expanded access to American art across Texas as part of the Art Bridges Cohort Program.

The exhibition presents a powerful selection of 66 artworks, including paintings, photographs, works on paper, and video, from the collections of Art Bridges, the Carter, and three other Texas-based museums. Together, the works delve into the milestones and challenges of life, from the bonds of love and resilience to the fractures of loss and adversity. Whether exploring the stories of ancestors, the rupture of families, or the joys of chosen companionship, this exhibition prompts us to reimagine home and humanity in the context of life's inevitable transformations.

Home, Love, and Loss is an exploration from multiple points of view that invites us to reflect on our bonds and relationships that form us into who we are,” says Deborah Fullerton, Curator of Exhibitions at the Art Museum of South Texas. “This exhibition examines many layers of living, depicting a wide variety of lives and what connects us through human experiences. These selections of art provide ways to connect to a broader appreciation for human connection through compassion, resilience, and the power of memories.”

“The Art Bridges Cohort Program provides us with the extraordinary opportunity to share the Carter’s collection beyond the walls of the Museum and nurture the next generation of professionals in curatorial work,” says Andrew J. Walker, Executive Director at the Carter. “We are thrilled to work alongside three other Texas institutions to create a series of exhibitions that help broaden our understanding of American creativity. Through this partnership, the Carter continues to build on its long history of collaborating with communities and other institutions to provide opportunities for people to explore the wonder of American art in their own lives and spaces.”

After Home, Love, and Loss closes at the Art Museum of South Texas, it will travel to the Amarillo Museum of Art from May 31 to September 14, 2025, and then to the Ellen Noël Art Museum from March 11 to June 16, 2026.
