May 21, 2012 Amon Carter Museum of American Art Honors Military with Participation in Blue Star Museums Program
Fort Worth, TX, May 21, 2012—The Amon Carter Museum of American Art announces today that it will honor military personnel this summer by again participating in the Blue Star Museums program in partnership with Blue Star Families, the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), and more than 1,500 museums across America.
The Blue Star Museums program allows free museum admission to active-duty military personnel and their families from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Because admission is always free to the Amon Carter, the museum is offering a free souvenir book. This special gift is extended to both active-duty and retired military personnel when they visit from May 29 to September 2, 2012.
More than 1,500 museums in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and American Samoa are taking part in the initiative. The complete list of participating museums is available at BlueStarFam.org.
“The Amon Carter is pleased to welcome our military families and thank them for their service,” says Andrew Walker, director. “We hope through the Blue Star Museums program we will have the opportunity to forge a connection between our preeminent collection of American art and those who serve America.”
The Amon Carter Museum of American Art offers outstanding exhibitions and public programs for adults and children and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday until 8 p.m. and Sunday from 12 to 5 p.m. Closed Mondays and major holidays.
