The Museum’s free outdoor concert and art festival will be Saturday, September 29 featuring Cut Throat Finches and DJ Austin Patton.

Fort Worth, TX, September 5, 2018—Party on the Porch, the Amon Carter Museum of American Art’s annual music and arts festival, returns for the fourth year with openers DJ Austin Patton and Cut Throat Finches and headliner Charley Crockett closing out the night. The community is invited to attend this free event featuring art–making, extended gallery hours, and live music on Saturday, September 29, from 6 to 10 p.m.

Outside on the plaza, partygoers can listen to two exciting bands with local roots: Fort Worth’s Cut Throat Finches, who were recently named Fort Worth Weekly’s 2018 Band of the Year; and Texas native Charley Crockett, named one of the “10 new country artists you need to know” by Rolling Stone, will perform as part of his Lonesome as a Shadow tour. The live music kicks off at 6:30 p.m. with DJ Austin Patton.

Additional outdoor activities include a presentation of picnic tables painted by children from a few of the museum’s community partners—Girl Scouts of Texas Oklahoma Plains and three City of Fort Worth Community Centers: Northside, R. D. Evans, and Worth Heights. Partygoers can also leave their mark on a community mural inspired by the museum’s collection with local artist Sarah Ayala, or challenge a friend with a variety of lawn games. The porch will light up throughout the evening with special effects provided by Inside Image Design. Pan Ector is back by popular demand with their Fort Worth-themed T-shirts that are screenprinted on–site.

Get to know the Amon Carter’s collection with the “Party with the Art” pickup tour and explore favorite artworks in the galleries, chat with fellow art lovers, make your own work of art, and unleash your creativity with activities in the galleries. Dress up for a selfie, curate your own gallery space, have a caricature made, and add your thoughts to a community wishing wall for the upcoming museum renovations.

Twelve local food-trucks will be on-site serving a variety of dining options for every taste, and beer and wine will be available for purchase provided by Kincaid’s Grocery. Guests may also preorder Central Market picnic packs by calling 817.377.9307; the food baskets will be available for pick up at Central Market’s on-site store, with an additional assortment of food and beverages for purchase. Amon Carter museum members will receive access to a VIP area with free drinks and lite bites provided by Righteous Foods throughout the evening.

Free parking is available at the UNT Health Science Center lot and east garage on Clifton Street (north of the museum). About the Amon Carter Museum of American Art

Designed by renowned architect Philip Johnson (1906–2005), the Amon Carter opened in 1961 and houses a preeminent collection of American art including painting, photographs, sculpture, and works on paper. The paintings collection spans early 19th-century expeditionary art to mid-20th-century Modernism and includes masterworks by artists such as Frederic Church, Stuart Davis, Arthur Dove, Thomas Eakins, Winslow Homer, Georgia O’Keeffe, and John Singer Sargent.
