Fort Worth, TX, August 28, 2002—Runners and walkers of all ages and ability levels are invited to participate in the USTF-certified DASH for the Timber 5K Road Race/Walk and Kiddie Kilometer on Saturday, September 28 at 8 a.m. Now in its 12th year at the Amon Carter Museum, this year's race is presented by the Star-Telegram and sponsored by Osteopathic Health Systems of Texas. To accommodate early visitors and race participants, the Carter's galleries will open to the public at 8:30 a.m.

As always, awards, prizes, and refreshments will be waiting for participants when they cross the finish line. This year, special individual and team participant drawings for Southwest Airlines tickets will be held following the race.

The DASH race is named for one of the most popular paintings in the Carter's collection, Frederic Remington's A Dash for the Timber (1889). The event was inaugurated as a celebration of Remington's birthday during the museum's 30th anniversary in 1991.

The race winds through Fort Worth's Cultural District, beginning on Lancaster Avenue adjacent to the museum with the finish line on Will Rogers Road.

CBS11 is the official media sponsor for DASH for the Timber 2002. Awards: Overall trophies will be awarded to male/female winners in the open and masters divisions, as well as the first three finishers in age categories from 8 to 70-plus years. All Kiddie Kilometer racers receive a medal. All race participants will receive a commemorative DASH for the Timber T-shirt.
