Event Description
Artist David H. Gibson will talk with Carter curator John Rohrbach about his works featured in the exhibition Morning Light: Photographs of David H. Gibson. Following their conversation, both speakers will participate in a Q&A. Seating for the talk will be first come, first served.
Gibson was born in a rural suburb of Louisville, Kentucky and currently resides in Dallas, Texas. His interest in photography developed during his childhood at his father’s side. After concluding a successful business career centered on theatrically inspired exhibition design in 1986, he finally devoted his full attention to photography. By 1990, he had already mounted his first exhibition. Since then, Gibson has participated in more than 90 exhibitions at museums, galleries, and universities around the world, 26 of which have been solo shows. His work is represented in corporate collections worldwide as well as in the collections of the Amarillo Museum of Art, Amarillo, Texas; the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, Fort Worth, Texas; the Ballinglen Arts Foundation, Ballycastle, County Mayo, Ireland; and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Texas.
American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation will be provided during the talk.
Part of the March Second Thursday at the Carter.
