Request a Tour for Student Groups

All tours are always free for students and their chaperones!

We offer two types of tours:

  • Self-guided: This tour is for professors, teachers, and facilitators who want to lead their own groups through a museum experience. Reservations are required.
  • Guided: Discover the galleries with one of our Gallery Teachers who utilize question-based teaching strategies to engage students in discussions about works of art.

To reserve either tour option, please complete this form or email us at least three weeks in advance of your desired date.

Bus Scholarships

The Carter is pleased to offer limited bus scholarships to eligible schools.

  • Bus scholarships (up to $250) are available for guided tours for K-12 students from Title 1 schools in Texas.
  • Bus Scholarships are used to reimburse schools for their bus trip to the Museum after their visit. It is not used to pay the bus company directly.
  • Schools are responsible for arranging and paying for bus transportation and must send in a bus invoice and school W-9 no later than 60 days after the conclusion of the trip. 
  • Applications need to be submitted at least three weeks before the Museum visit.
  • Schools visiting the Museum as part of a school district partnership (i.e. Fort Worth ISD 3rd grade and Hurst-Euless-Bedford ISD 5th grade) are not eligible for bus scholarships. 
  • Bus scholarships are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • A minimum of 25 students is required.

Tours can accommodate up to 150 students.

Tours can accommodate up to 75 students at one time. Groups larger than 75 will be divided and seen over multiple time slots based on staffing. Please acknowledge your acceptance of this policy to continue your registration.

What kind of tour are you interested in?

Tours last approximately one hour, and can be scheduled Tuesdays through Fridays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Please note, due to our school partnership initiatives there is limited availability for fall school tours.

During the school year tours can be scheduled Thursdays between 4 and 7:30 p.m., Saturdays between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., and Sundays between noon and 4:30 p.m.

During the summer tours can also be scheduled Tuesdays through Fridays between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
